Snowprint Studios is hiring a Server Developer for Warhammer 40,000: Tacticus. This is your opportunity to work with competent industry experts on a prestigious, multiple finalist and award winning* team and strategy game.

In this role, you'll be a key player in developing and operating the server-side features of Warhammer 40,000: Tacticus, focusing on game logic, infrastructure, and live operations. You’ll build player-facing features like new game modes, guild tournaments, chat, and leaderboards while tackling technical challenges such as real-time multiplayer, cheat detection, and content delivery. Working closely with designers and client developers, you’ll define APIs, structure data, and integrate third-party services to ensure smooth client-server communication.

Beyond development, you'll help optimize workflows, create tools that empower the team, and take ownership of larger features. As part of a small, agile team, you’ll work independently while contributing to shared technology across multiple live games.

At Snowprint, our games are built using Java running on AWS.

To succeed in this role, we think you have…

Proficient coding skills in Java or Kotlin with a focus on well-structured, high-quality code.
Experience operating live products, including infrastructure, build, and configuration management.
Knowledge of cloud-based services (we use AWS) and how to optimize for scalability.
The ability to work independently while communicating and collaborating effectively.
A curious mindset, always looking for ways to improve and innovate through sharing ideas and constructive feedback.
A passion for games and a drive to create the best possible player experience.

Nice to have:

Experience with real-time multiplayer, cheat detection, or large-scale server architectures.
Familiarity with database management and optimization for live games.
A curiosity for learning new technologies and a drive to improve processes.
A passion for strategy games and an understanding of player engagement mechanics.
