Gamecity Hamburg Unveils New B2B Conference: Portside Game Assembly

The new conference format will debut on June 27, 2025, in and around the Port of Hamburg. Participants will need to be seaworthy, as the main conference will be held on a ship sailing through Hamburg’s harbour.

According to Gamecity Hamburg organizers, the concept for the Portside Game Assembly (portsideassembly.com) arose from discussions with studio heads in Hamburg and beyond. In addition to the conference, which forms the heart of the event, Portside Game Assembly includes a networking brunch and two evening events, all held around the harbour area.

Unlike typical B2B conferences, Portside Game Assembly will feature a carefully curated guest list, creating a private setting where studio heads from around the world can engage in C-level discussions with industry leaders facing similar challenges.

"With a curated guest list and a focus on impulse talks and roundtables, PSGA will offer studio leads contacts and discussions which are highly relevant to their work and current developments in the industry," explains Margarete Schneider, Project Manager at Gamecity Hamburg.

Dennis Schoubye, Head of Gamecity Hamburg, adds: "The heart of PSGA is the conference, which will be held on a ship sailing through the Hamburg harbour and to which we welcome attendees from all over Europe and beyond. The conference will be complemented by a networking brunch and two evening events, which invite PSGA participants to meet the vibrant and diverse Hamburg games scene."

The exclusive event on June 27, 2025, will be hosted on a conference ship featuring three decks designated for keynote speeches, roundtables, and networking. Several studios have already confirmed their participation, including Germany’s bippinbits, Maschinen-Mensch, Overhype Studios, Rockfish Games, and Torpor Games, along with Ghost Ship Publishing from Denmark, Indoor Astronaut from Switzerland, and Landfall Games from Sweden.

Gamecity Hamburg notes that the conference is exclusively for studio managers and decision-makers from internationally successful indie game studios. To maintain the curated nature of the event, there will be no direct ticket sales. Interested studios can apply to attend.
