Dutch Dev Event Indigo to Continue in 2025 Despite Dutch Games Garden's End
With a new location and a new organiser, the major Dutch games event Indigo will continue in 2025, thanks to a joint effort by the Dutch Games Association (DGA), the city of Rotterdam, and the Flanders Audiovisual Fund (VAF).
Following the announcement in September that the Dutch Games Garden—an incubator and cluster organisation—would cease operations in January 2025, the future of Indigo was uncertain. Under Dutch Games Garden’s management in Utrecht, INDIGO had grown into a B2B event that attracted attention beyond the Netherlands.
"We are very pleased with this continuation of Indigo. It is the ideal place to bring together Flemish and Dutch talent!" - Youri Loedts, Head of VAF/Game fund
However, a solution has now been found. The event will be transferred to a newly established non-profit organisation, the Benelux Games Promotional Initiative (BGPI). This foundation aims to promote game development companies, game creators within the Benelux, and their games on the international market.
"We are very grateful for the collaboration of the DGA, the municipality of Rotterdam, and VAF! It helps us get started, but now it’s up to the game industry to truly support Indigo," says Geoff van den Ouden, Chair of the Benelux Games Promotional Initiative (BGPI). "The continuation of Indigo must be carried by the companies in our sector. Established studios contribute to growing the market, while new talent gets the opportunity to launch something from the Benelux."
"Entrepreneurship is in Rotterdam’s blood. That’s why we offered our support to enable the continuation of Indigo. It’s important for the sector to have one high-quality business event in the Netherlands where the industry and investors can meet. This benefits SME entrepreneurs and enhances the Netherlands’ international profile." - Robert Simons, Alderman for Port, Economy, Hospitality, Administration & Deputy Mayor, municipality of Rotterdam
Under BGPI’s organisation, Indigo will return at a new location on 27 and 28 May 2025, taking place at the World Trade Center in Rotterdam.
