The Game Awards 2024 - All the Announcements and Highlights in One Place
This year's Game Awards saw a host of new games, world premieres and new content. Sega, Plaion and 2K Games had plenty on show too. From Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and Okami to Split Fiction and Elden Ring Nightreign, here are the announcements at a glance.
The biggest announcement at The Game Awards 2024 was The Witcher IV (GamesMarkt reported), but Sony Interactive Entertainment also used the big stage to unveil Naughty Dog's next project. It's called Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and it's currently in development for PlayStation 5. It's been in development since 2020. "Intergalactic stars our newest protagonist, Jordan A. Mun, a dangerous bounty hunter who ends up stranded on Sempiria – a distant planet whose communication with the outside universe went dark hundreds of years ago. In fact, anyone who's flown to it hoping to unravel its mysterious past was never heard from again. Jordan will have to use all her skills and wits if she hopes to be the first person in over 600 years to leave its orbit," says Neil Druckmann, Naughty Dog Studio Head. "Beyond that, we're keeping everything about the story under wraps – at least for now. What we can tell you is that this game lives up to the Naughty Dog tradition of creating an emotional, character-driven epic journey. Our narrative goals are rivaled only by our gameplay ambitions. This will be the deepest gameplay in Naughty Dog's history, taking our learnings from our previous franchises and pushing them beyond anything we've ever done before." Speaking of Naughty Dog and Sony Interactive Entertainment. The Last of Us Part II Remastered will be released on PC on 3 April 2025, ported by Nixxes Software. And a free update for Helldivers 2, 'Omens of Tyranny', has been released today by Arrowhead Game Studios, featuring the return of the Illuminate faction.
