Square Enix and Bandai Namco Expand Distribution Partnership
Square Enix is restructuring the distribution of its physical games in Europe, leaving Plaion, the current partner for Germany, out of the equation. Starting 1 February, Bandai Namco Entertainment will take over the distribution of Square Enix titles in Germany, the UK, Spain, Italy, and the Nordics.
This deal is not an entirely new partnership. Square Enix and Bandai Namco Entertainment have already collaborated in several markets for the distribution of physical titles. Specifically, Bandai Namco has been responsible for distributing Square Enix's product catalogue in France, Australia, and New Zealand. Now, additional key PAL region markets—including the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, and the Nordics—are being added.
With Germany, it is also likely that the two neighboring countries Switzerland and Austria—forming the GSA region—will fall under Bandai Namco's responsibility. Previously, Plaion handled distribution in these countries.
