At first glance, Unity’s financial figures for Q4 and the full year 2024 do not look particularly strong. Q4 revenue fell by 25% to $457 million, while full-year revenue declined by 17% to $1.81 billion. The Create Solutions division experienced a significantly greater revenue loss than the Grow Solutions division.

However, CEO Matt Bromberg sees these figures in a different light, as Unity is in the midst of a transformation. "The company’s fourth-quarter results meaningfully exceeded expectations on both revenue and profit, underscoring our progress in building a new Unity," said Bromberg. "The successful launch of Unity 6, the appeal of our new pricing model, and the progress we’re making in AI for our advertising customers are providing a lot of optimism for the future."

This may explain why Unity has introduced the rather unconventional KPI "Revenue from our strategic portfolio" in its earnings announcement—apparently covering all areas and products the company intends to focus on moving forward. According to Unity, this metric showed a 4% revenue increase in Q4 and a 1% decline for the full year—a significantly better result than the overall revenue figures.
