Project K now has a name: after a long wait, Riot Games has officially replaced the working title of its League of Legends-based trading card game. The final title is Riftbound: League of Legends Trading Card Game.

Riftbound is set to launch in China this summer. The debut set, titled Origin, includes over 300 different cards. The game will offer various multiplayer formats, including 1v1 matches.

According to Riot, the final cards and game mechanics are still in development. However, it’s already clear that Riftbound is being designed with competitive play in mind and will feature in tournaments and championship events.

Amid the excitement, though, comes some disappointment—especially for European fans. Riot has confirmed that following the China launch, the game will release in “English-speaking countries” in October 2025. In China, Riot is working with Shining Soul, and in English-speaking markets with UVS Games.

Based on the current plans, it's clear that Riftbound will not be released in the EU this year. The prospect of a 2026 release may offer little comfort to fans in Europe eagerly awaiting the game.
